Craftopia: Macrame Hanging Plant Holder class @ Craftopia

See what you can create with just a couple of pieces of rope! Learn some basic knots and choose from different patterns to make your own plant hanger. Bring your own pot from home or choose from one of our plastic ones as your guide, then add colors and even some beads for something fun, funky and unique. Recommended for ages 14+. Younger may attend with parents help.

Craftopia: Origami Kusudama Flower Ball class @ Craftopia

Learn to make your very own origami Kusudama Flower ball. These beautiful balls look very complicated and impressive, but are actually quite easy to fold. Learners will be able to choose from a variety of sizes of paper and colors to make their flower ball completely unique. Buttons, gems or lights can also be added for a little more variety.
$20/project includes all supplies. There is a good chance you will not get the entire ball completed in the class time, so learners will be sent home with the necessary supplies to completed on their own. Recommended for ages 15+

Lacey 3rd of July Fireworks Spectacular @ Rainier Vista Park

For over 50 years, Lacey has celebrated the holiday a day early with Fireworks, Food, Music, and Fun! Enjoy The Coats at 5pm and Groove Nation at 8pm. Fireworks will be set to music at 10pm.

1 Mile Kids Cost – $5

Online Registration closes on July 2nd at 11:59 PM
Registrations are also accepted on the day of the event for an additional charge of $5

7:30 AM – Registration/Packet Pick Up Opens
8:45 AM – Registration/Packet Pick Up Closes
9:00 AM – Start of 4 Mile
9:05 AM – Start of 1 Mile Kids
Street fair, parade, and fireworks will follow this event

USATF Certified Course and Sanctioned Event
Event shirts available for purchase during online registration until June 30th at 11:59 PM
Scenic, mostly flat, road courses travel out-and-back along the waterfront
For everyone’s safety, pets are not allowed on the course
Prizes are given to the most patriotic dressed
Awards are available immediately after finishing

4 Mile Awards:
Ribbons are given to top 3 in each gender and age group
Medals are given to 1st place overall male and female

1 Mile Kids Awards:
Every kid receives a finisher ribbon and a small USA flag

Craftopia: Button Painting class @ Craftopia

Try your hand at stacking buttons to make cute pictures! Technically not “painting” but a fun mixed media way to create new art. Choose from several animal themed images, or create your own from scratch. Then build your way with glue and buttons to a create your 3-D masterpiece. Recommended for ages 14+

Craftopia: Tula Cuff Bracelets class @ Craftopia

Tula beads are fun and very in fashion right now. In this class we will use memory wire and Tula beads to create a cuff uniquely your own. Open to ages 14+ (younger children may be approved on a case by case basis with parental assistance).

Craftopia: Fiberholics Anonymous meet up @ Craftopia

Do you love yarn?  Is your embroidery thread collection of epic proportions? Are hooks, needles, and looms filling your space?  Then this is the place for you!  Join us once a month for a fiber-lover meet-up.  The first Friday of every month from 5-7pm, our community room will be opened for fiber artists of all varieties to hang out, work on projects, chat, laugh and relax.

Craftopia: Earrings 101 class @ Craftopia

Master Crafter Darcy Jones will be teaching this fabulous class all about how to make earrings. Crafters will learn the various techniques to make stunning jewelry and will get to pick out their own jewels and gems to make their own unique creations.

Fire Rescue Spectacular @ Hands On Children's Museum

The Fire Rescue Spectacular, July 8, is the ultimate firefighter and first-responder experience for kids! At the free street fair kids can explore a fleet of emergency vehicles, meet first responders, take the Junior Fighter Challenge, enjoy free ice cream, and so much more!

Presented by Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Network in partnership with Olympia Fire Dept., and thanks to Access Partner Macy’s.

Free Street Fair Activities
• Explore Olympia’s fleet of emergency vehicles and meet first responders
• Meet Sparky the Fire Dog & Smokey the Bear
• See vintage fire trucks
• Experience the Spray Gallery
• Take the Junior Firefighter Challenge
• Enjoy special activities, festival food & free ice cream and popsicles

Inside the Museum
• See wacky Dr. Science demos
• Make an emergency candle or fire starter
• Learn how to start a campfire
• Explore first aid techniques
• Rescue toy animals from ice

All activities on the street are free to the public. Special activities in the Museum are free with admission – online reservations recommended.

Craftopia: Beginning Weaving class @ Craftopia

In this class, learn the basic techniques of weaving to create your own wall hanging. Choose from a variety of colors, materials, and styles of yarn and rope to make your very own hanging art piece! While the technique is fairly simple, this can be a time-consuming process, so learners may need to complete their project at home.
