A TLT audience favorite returns, Leg Lamp and all!

Humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940’s follows nine-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher, and even Santa Claus himself. The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the elements from the beloved movie are here, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys’ experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie’s father winning a leg lamp; Ralphie’s fantasy scenarios and more.

Blackberry Pull with Nisqually Land Trust @ Anderson Island Protected Area
Dec 10 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

T?his winter we will be planting native trees and shrubs at our Anderson Island Protected Area. We need your help to remove invasive Himalayan blackberry to clear the site for planting.

This event requires you to drive your own vehicle onto the Anderson Island Ferry out of Steilacoom, WA (unless, of course, you happen to live close to or on Anderson Island). The ferry costs a little under $20 round trip for the driver and an average size vehicle (there is a senior discount).

Take the 8:20 ferry to Anderson Island. We will finish in time for you to take the 12:45PM return ferry. There are also 3:15PM and 4:25PM return ferries.

Once on the island, you will head to the worksite, following the directions sent to you via e-mail with your registration confirmation. The work site is a 10-minute drive from the ferry terminal.

Click the “Tickets” link to register through Eventbrite. You must register to receive directions to the worksite.

Work parties are rain or shine. Individual, pre-packaged, light snacks are provided. Minors are welcome provided they are accompanied by an adult.

Contact Emily at emily@nisquallylandtrust.org with any questions.
