Children’s Therapy Center Move-a-Thon @ Fort Steilacoom Park

Children’s Therapy Center’s 2nd annual Move-A-Thon from September 19-25 is an accessible community event that invites participants of all ages and abilities to roll, swim, skip rope–or do anything that joyfully moves them–to support children with special needs in our community.

Join us for the in-person event Saturday, September 24th at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood from 10-1 for a family event featuring food, entertainment including local musicians, Rhubarb the Tacoma Rainiers’ reindeer mascot, family resources, a morning loop around the lake and a performance by the Special Olympics Cheer Squad! CTC helps children with special needs reach their fullest potential through physical, occupational and speech therapy through in-home and center-based services in Kent, Burien, Tacoma and Maple Valley. Proceeds from the event will support uncompensated therapy services, education and family support for children with special needs whose families would otherwise be unable to cover the cost of care.

Central Puget Sound Water Stewards Training @ Zoom

Want to help keep Puget Sound clean, and encourage your neighbors to use fewer pesticides? We’re seeking Water Stewards from Central Puget Sound! If you live in King, Snohomish, Pierce or Kitsap County, do not use or have reduced your chemical pesticide use, and want to get others in your community to do the same to protect their health and the health of Puget Sound—we want you! Water stewards will be asked to participate in a 90 minute online Zoom training. For the next month after the training, water stewards will be expected to make contact with 10 community members via door-to-door canvassing, participation in community meetings or events.

Water stewards who attend the entire 90 minute training on October 20th will receive a $25 gift card of their choice to Starbucks, Fred Meyer, Speedway Gas, Chipotle, Petco or Dominos Pizza. Those who follow through with outreach over the next month with 10 community members will receive another $25 gift card of their choice from Starbucks, Fred Meyer, Speedway Gas, Chipotle, Petco or Dominos Pizza. Water stewards will also receive an NCAP shirt or beanie hat.
