Dealing with Daily Difficulties: Anxiety @ Tushita Kadampa Buddhist Center
Sep 9 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

We are hosting a very special, relevant Monday Night Lecture series during September, October, and November. We have one class a month that covers an important topic that relates to our daily life.

In September we are looking at anxiety and how we can find a way to reduce our fretful feelings. As the summer winds down, we often have a lot of reasons to feel anxious, and with this class, we can have tools to oppose that anxiety. This practical class is open to everyone.

The goal of spiritual practice is to attain a stainless life where no negativity arises. Spiritual practice is easy, we simply eliminate our current inner problems until there is none left. The way to accomplish this result is by practically working with our situation right now. Our daily life is a great indicator of what we need to emphasize for us to secure lasting happiness. Join us as we make progress on the spiritual path by addressing some very common problems that we daily experience.

Anxiety is perhaps the greatest hindrance of our current age. Fortunately, this is also an easy problem to solve by contemplating and meditating on Buddhist wisdom. Come find out for yourself how easy it is to tackle the problem of anxiety with correct ways of thinking.

Class fee is $12. Reduced rates are available for students, seniors, and unemployed.
Everyone is Welcome

For centuries, three unique pods of killer whales have thrived off the coast of Washington, spending summers in the interior waters of the Salish Sea, feasting on chinook salmon. For the past 50 years, these orcas’ presence has thrilled and fascinated people–biologists, tourists, and unsuspecting boaters and fishermen. But chinook salmon are in trouble–with less than one percent of their historic abundance in the Pacific Northwest. The beloved local orca whales’ fate has followed the salmon. Dams have been the main culprit behind salmons’ demise. A broad and growing coalition of scientists, economists, conservationists, and citizens say removing the worst fish killing dams is the best chance we have to bring abundant runs of salmon and the orca that rely on them.

The timing of this film – and its urgent call to action – could not be better. Northwest salmon and Southern Resident orcas need our help today. Citizens regionally and nationally are calling for bold leadership and urgent action. Northwest elected officials have begun to step up and advocate for some big changes to restore our salmon, protect our orcas and invest in our communities. Restoring the lower Snake River and its chinook salmon populations by removing its four costly and out-dated dams is our biggest river/salmon restoration opportunity on anywhere on the West Coast.
