In this class, learn the basic techniques of weaving to create your own wall hanging. Choose from a variety of colors, materials, and styles of yarn and rope to make your very own hanging art piece! Craftopia: Volunteer Packing Party @ Craftopia

Join us once a month to help prepare and pack up craft kits.  These kits are donated free of charge to the Tacoma Public Library and Pierce County Library systems.  The libraries then distribute them to the community so people of all ages can learn new projects and explore their creative side.
Packing parties include prepping of supplies and stuffing ziplock bags with materials.  We stuff between 100-300 bags each time, so lots of repetitive motion.  Beverages and snacks are provided, but feel free to bring your own as well.

Craftopia: Wood Burning Open Studio @ Craftopia

It’s getting hot in here, so come and burn some wood. Our wood burning open studio session is relatively unstructured time to play around with our pyrography machines. We will start with a quick tutorial of how to use the machines, the different tips, and good techniques, as well as some safety information. Then we will set you free with your wood to let your imagine run wild. Instructors will be on hand to answer questions and help out the entire time, but what you create will be up to you. For safety, this class is ages 16+. Under 16 may attend with prior approval.

Join local artist extraordinaire Payette Still of Payette’s Fine Art for a fabulous silk scarf dying class. Learn how to create basic abstract designs to dip your scarf in, making a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. All supplies are included. Dye does have to be set once the scarf is finished, so artists will need to arrange to come back and pick their scarf up later. Due to the size of equipment used, space is VERY LIMITED!! Craftopia: Mosaic Tile Rocks class @ Craftopia

Students will create unique pieces of garden art using glass, chain and beads adhered to a stone. Through hands on instruction, students will learn the fundamentals of mosaic art, including design and basic techniques for cutting and shaping materials. No previous mosaic experience is necessary. Students are welcome to bring a small piece of jewelry or beads with sentimental value to incorporate into their design.
