Destiny City Film Festival (DCFF) will present its eighth edition from Feb. 26 to March 7, 2021 in a hybrid format featuring virtual screenings and limited in-person events.

In addition to 10 days of film screenings, the Festival, funded by Tacoma Creates, will feature informative and entertaining panels and workshops curated by the DCFF Advisory Board.

Founded in 2014, the Destiny City Film Festival is a homegrown, true-Tacoma community event, inspired by our city’s nickname – The City of Destiny – and built to showcase and celebrate cinematic storytelling from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. DCFF’s mission is to use the power of vibrant cinematic storytelling to curate an engaged community audience for independent film. The National Wildlife Federation is offering a specialized, multi-week online training to teach you how to help others create and restore wildlife habitat in backyards, schoolyards, and other private and public areas. You get to meet and interact with local conservation professionals and other similarly interested folks while participating in this engaging, fun and highly informative online program!

Benefits include: a comprehensive, digital training manual with local resources; instruction from local professionals; and continued support from NWF staff.

Expert speakers will present on topics such as:

-Gardening for wildlife
-Improving soil quality
-Habitat restoration
-Mushrooms and fungi
-Bird friendly gardening
-And much more!

Classes will take place May 25th, 27th, June 1st, and 3rd from 6:00 – 7:00 pm via a free video conference platform.

A COVID-safe School Yard Habitat installation field trip will be held Saturday, May 29th and Sunday, May 30th. Participants are asked to attend one, but are welcomed to attend both events.

Dog-A-Thon 2021 @ Virtual Walk, Run, and Wag

Join us for the 2021 VIRTUAL Dog-A-Thon!

Every dollar raised makes a lifesaving difference for animals who rely on us for a second chance.

Whether it’s providing an animal with rehabilitation from cruelty and neglect, helping a family adopt a new pet or returning a companion to their owner, your participation helps make lifesaving work possible. You will also strengthen the crucial programs and services we provide to our community, such as low-cost/free spay and neuter and pet food for families in need.

In the coming year, the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County will care for nearly 10,000 animals in need! By joining Dog-A-Thon, you’ll help give each one a second chance they deserve.
