Fort Nisqually is open to the public! Visit Friday through Sunday for an outdoor museum experience.

Fort Nisqually, the first globally connected settlement on the Puget Sound, was established in 1833 by the Hudson’s Bay Company. Today, the Fort engages a diverse regional audience with Puget Sound’s first globally connected settlement through historic preservation, experiential learning, and interpretation.

Living History Interpreters are on site to share their passion for history. Grab one of our “kits of the day” for a hands on activity you can do at the museum or at home. Kits may include book binding, knot tying, or trade bead necklaces to name a few. This offer is good while supplies last.

It’s part scavenger hunt and part double-dog-dare; it’s Beyond the Backyard, a new Habitat Challenge.

Beyond the Backyard is a unique fundraiser for our time; it’s quarantine-friendly as there’s no start/finish line and no gathering.

Teams of 3-8 people race to complete 24 challenges in the categories of PHYSICAL, FIND, SKILL and FUN -submitting photo/video proof to race HQ along the way. Suited for all ages and stages, this quest is made for athletes and fun-seekers of all ability levels.

You can contain your team and the race to your immediate family and your own block, or expand out to include some close friends and your city. No matter your choice, it’s a great way for a quarantine pod to shake things up and have some fun! Best of all, the race funds affordable homeownership in our communities.

Fort From Home: Cooking Webinar @ Online

The Fort from Home series brings the talents and expertise of Fort Nisqually to you live through interactive online webinars.

Fort Nisqually Volunteer Cook, Quinn, demonstrates how to make Victorian era Soda Scones. These scones are prepared on your griddle (not baked) and are typically served with butter.

Quinn will share insight into historical food research and the adaptation of Victorian cooking to a modern kitchen.

Bring your kitchen queries: Questions are encouraged throughout the session (via text chat)!

Participants will receive a link to join the webinar via email prior to the session start time.
