Community Table, an evening against hunger @ Uptown Gig Harbor
May 6 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Join in a momentous evening as the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation (GGHF) and Uptown Gig Harbor host a gourmet “Black & White” dinner, raising funds for local agencies working to address food insecurities within the Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula community. Every dollar raised through The Community Table equals about 5 pounds of food. Our intent is to raise enough funds to help stock the shelves of our local food banks for nearly 6 months.

Hunger in our community is a significant problem. An average of 30% of youth enrolled in our Peninsula schools come from families who meet federal criteria for free or reduced lunches. For many, these are the only melas they receive with any regularity. The translation? About 2,300 children (1 in 4) and 1 in 7 adults across our community struggle with hunger.

Since 2016 GGHF has actively worked through the GGHF Social Capital Core Area Board on #Community Harvest, Gig Harbor Thanksgiving Basket Brigade to help address local food insecurities. Over the course of this time, and through these events and efforts, GGHF has raised and directed more than $2-million to area food banks, through direct delivery meals, thanksgiving baskets, and other nutrition focused programs. Help us continue this impact.

Launching in 2023, The Community Table is the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation’s (GGHF) Social Capital Core Area Board’s signature fundraising event. Attendees will join in a grand evening of locally sourced gourmet foods, prepared by area chefs, Northwest based cocktails crafted by local mixologists, and much more. Guests are encouraged to wear Black & White!

Healing Us – a documentary world premiere @ Grand Cinema
May 19 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Narrated by Lady Liberty (Susan Sarandon), Healing Us stands as the final case for American healthcare to be free and accessible to all—through a single-payer system.
After a deadly virus, an international social revolution, an insurrection of our capital, and the beginning of the collapse of our two-party system, are we finally ready for something new? Something better?

68,000+ Americans will die this year due to lack of adequate healthcare and 500,000+ families will file for bankruptcy due to medical expenses. These numbers only represent a fraction of the trauma that millions of people experience everyday in the American for-profit healthcare industry. Yet numerous polls have shown that over 70% of Americans support switching to a universal healthcare system.

Using an all-star lineup of heavy-hitters in the healthcare movement, Healing US walks through all key points of the arguments in favor of a universal, single-payer healthcare system.

Healing US is a rallying cry to the American people.

We are reclaiming control of our hearts and bodies. We are redefining what it means to be American.
