City of Destiny Festival @ Foss Waterway Seaport Museum

Join THS at the Foss Waterway Seaport Museum for a free public festival commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Northern Pacific Railway arriving in Tacoma.

Join us for a celebration of Tacoma’s diverse history! This year’s festival commemorates the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railroad to Tacoma and focuses on those in and coming to Tacoma were affected by that change.

This event is free to the public and will feature hands-on activities, performances, exhibits, heritage & cultural organizations, vendors, and food trucks! Plus, the Northwest Room Community Archives will be capturing oral histories, so plan to share your stories about Tacoma and the train! We can’t wait to see you there!

Spaghetti Feed @ Gig Harbor Eagles

Grab your friends and family, or your date, and come out to enjoy a scrumptious spaghetti dinner benefiting the Gig Harbor Senior Center, on Saturday, October 21, 4pm to 7pm.

The Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser, is a casual and family-friendly event where you can indulge in a delicious spaghetti dinner, replete with a choice of meatballs or sausage, salad, garlic bread, ad dessert, for a great cause – Gig Harbor Senior Center programs, services and its future forever home!

Women’s Intro to Woodworking @ Foss Waterway Seaport

Join us for an intro-level woodworking class for women and nonbinary folks!
In this one-day class, you will learn how to use an assortment of woodworking power and hand tools to fabricate a toolbox. You will be guided through transferring measurements from paper plans, cutting lumber to length, and assembling it into a finished product. Join us in the Heritage Boat Shop to explore the basics of woodworking in a hands-on, mentorship-based class, and take your new toolbox home!
Instructed by Alice Clabaugh (she/her), a graduate from the Wood Technology Marine Carpentry program.

Proceeds benefit the Gig Harbor Senior Center’s programs, services, scholarships, and endowment.

History After Hours: End of the Line @ Washington State History Museum

Embark with WSHS to explore why the City of Destiny was named as the terminus for the Northern Pacific Railroad and consider the legacy of this decision. This evening of food, fun, and history is a 21+ event; IDs are required. Guests will receive two drink tickets.
