Learn about tools, supplies and embellishments, get ideas for all different kinds of layouts, and start designing your own pages. Bring your own scrapbook, and photos if you have them. Craftopia: Quilled Cards class @ Craftopia

Try your hand at the ancient art of rolling paper. We’ll discuss tools of the trade and learn several rolling techniques before being set loose to make your very own quilled creation. Each month we will bring you a design showcasing different quilling skills. You are welcome to follow along, or make your own design if you prefer. You can make your creation on cardstock to fold into a card or a canvass if you prefer. Recommended for ages 7+

Craftopia: Origami Star class @ Craftopia

Learn to make your very own origami star. These beautiful stars look very complicated and impressive, but are actually quite easy to fold (though assembly may get you seeing stars!). Learners will be able to choose from a variety of sizes of paper and colors to make their stars completely unique. Buttons, gems or lights can also be added for a little more variety. $20/project includes all supplies. There is a good chance you will not get the entire ball completed in the class time, so learners will be sent home with the necessary supplies to complete it on their own. Recommended for ages 15+

Craftopia: Tassel Earrings class @ Craftopia

Embroidery floss is so versatile and the color choices are amazing. In this class, you will get to choose from TONS of different colors and textures of embroidery thread and use it to create tassels to adorn your very own pair of earrings (or you can make a pendant). No jewelry making experience is required and this class is open to ages 12+ (younger children may be approved on a case by case basis with parental assistance).

Craftopia: Crochet 2.0 class @ Craftopia

Single crochet will only get you so far! Crochet 2.0 is a continuation class for those who have already mastered single crochet and are ready to move on to more complicated stitches. We’ll be focusing on half double crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, and more complicated stitch patterns like shells, clusters, puffs, and seed stitches. Special stitch requests are gladly accommodated! Crocheters should already be proficient with single crochet before taking this class. Hook and yarn will be available, or bring your own if you prefer.

Prairie Line Walk & Talk @ Tollefson Plaza

Join Tacoma Historical Society for a historic walking tour of the Prairie Line Trail in downtown Tacoma. The tour will be lead by renowned local historian, Michael Sullivan, who will share the history of how the Northern Pacific Railroad shaped the city we know today.

The walk will begin at Tollefson Plaza and cover approximately one mile. While the trail is accessible, the first portion of the walk is uphill. Paid public parking can be found along Pacific Avenue.
