Ticket to Ride Game Night @ Tacoma Historical Society Museum

Can you build the best railroad across America? Join us for fun and games at the
THS Museum, 406 Tacoma Ave South, as we play the popular strategy game about building your railroad across America in the 20th century.
We will also have some history trivia, snacks, and prizes!
Ticket to Ride is suggested for ages eight and older. This event is free or by
donation. Donations can be made at the door. Games provided by Tacoma
Games.

Ride for Major Taylor @ White Center Bicycle Playground (start and finish line)

Support Black and Brown youth in Tacoma’s Major Taylor Project clubs by joining Cascade Bicycle Club on the Ride for Major Taylor. This is a fundraising ride that supports a way for youth to gain confidence, leadership skills, and bike knowledge as part of free after-school bike clubs in Tacoma and Seattle. This event is Cascade Bicycle Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year for these clubs.

The Ride for Major Taylor takes place April 23 from 7 am to 3 pm and offers 26 and 63-mile routes that are fully supported. The 63-mile route includes a journey through Tacoma and Pierce County along the Sound. Registration is $130 for Cascade members, $140 for non-members, and $30 for youth 18 and under (scholarships are available for adults and youth). Registration includes ferry fare, souvenirs, route support (mechanics, medical, etc), and a finisher meal with vegan and gluten-free options.

Klahowya, means ‘Welcome’ in Chinook Jargon. Get to know Fort Nisqually Living History Museum with hands-on activities, crafts demonstrations and more.

This event is complementary for Pierce County residents, those with Native tribal memberships, and Fort Nisqually Living History Members. These groups do not need to purchase tickets in advance. ID is required for complementary admission!

Dinner with Teddy Roosevelt @ Sons of Norway Normanna Hall, Tacoma

Tacoma Historical Society is pleased to invite you to dine with President Theodore
Roosevelt. The year is 1903 and President Roosevelt is visiting Tacoma, having
just arrived via the Northern Pacific Railroad as part of his Presidential Tour.
Enjoy a catered meal inspired by the original menus from President Roosevelt’s
time aboard the train. Meet the president and dine alongside other historical figures
from Tacoma’s past. Listen to live music, hear Roosevelt speak, and enjoy a drink
from the cash bar, all while enjoying the atmosphere of the historic Sons of Norway, Normanna Hall.
Event begins at 6:00pm for social hour and dinner will be served at 7:00pm.
This event is formal, historic costume encouraged but not required. 2?1 and over
only.
A?ll proceeds go towards supporting Tacoma Historical Society’s mission to preserve, present & promote Tacoma’s History.

12th Annual Pierce County Bike Swap @ University of Puget Sound--Thompson Hall Parking Lot

Pierce Trips is excited to be hosting the 12th Annual Bike Swap on Saturday, May 6 at the University of Puget Sound.

The Pierce County Bike Swap will bring the bicycling community together to buy, sell bikes and bike parts, teach young ones how to ride, discuss best cycling routes, and much more.

At the Bike Swap, Pierce Trips is planning on providing:

BIKE CORRAL: Buy a bike or sell a bike at our Bike Corral. If you have 1-2 bikes to sell, this is the recommended route. There are no listing or selling fees. You do not need to sell a bike to buy, or trade. Come find your new-to-you ride!

LOW-COST HELMETS: Provided by Downtown on the Go, bicyclists can purchase affordable helmets and get a proper helmet fitting.

BIKE MAP MASTERS: Discuss best biking routes with seasoned local riders at the Bike Map Masters station.

KIDS RIDING AREA: Youth can practice safe riding skills such as balancing, scanning, stopping, turning, and more.

VENDORS: We will be inviting local bike shops and bike-related organizations to show off their products and share the latest information with you on bicycling in Pierce County. If you have several bicycles or bike parts to sell, we recommend you register as a vendor. There are no vendor fees.
