Tree and Shrub Planting with Nisqually Land Trust @ Anderson Island Protected Area
Mar 1 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

We’re back out on Anderson Island, and we need your help to finishing plant trees and shrubs near South Oro Bay.

This event requires you to drive your own vehicle onto the Anderson Island Ferry out of Steilacoom, WA (unless, of course, you live close to or on Anderson Island). The ferry costs a little under $20 round trip for the driver and an average size vehicle (there is a senior discount, and the Land Trust can reimburse you for the cost). You can see more details about ferry costs at this link.

Take the 8:20 ferry to Anderson Island. There are return times of12:45PM, 3:15PM and 4:25PM, and you can learn more about the ferry times here. We will finish the work party in time for you to catch the 12:45 pm ferry.

Once on the island, you will head to the worksite, following the directions sent to you via e-mail with your registration confirmation. The work site is a 10-minute drive from the ferry terminal.

Register via Eventbrite for directions to the worksite (click on “Tickets” for the link).

Work parties are rain or shine. Individual, pre-packaged, light snacks are provided. Minors are welcome provided they are accompanied by an adult.

ROCK OF AGES @ Tacoma Little Theatre
Mar 3 @ 7:30 pm

University of Washington-Tacoma and TLT join forces!

Aqua Net, Lycra, lace, and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues in the 1980s. A place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri, and the gang save the strip, and themselves, before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and more hold the answer.

Site Steward Workshop with Nisqually Land Trust @ Eatonville Community Center
Mar 4 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Do you have a love for the land, and the plants, animals and the other life it supports? Do you want to help take care of the special places you love? Do you like spending your free time walking through the woods?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, becoming a Site Steward with the Nisqually Land Trust may be a good fit for you. Our volunteer stewards “adopt” one of the Land Trust’s properties in the Nisqually River watershed, and periodically monitor it for positive and negative changes.

The Nisqually Land Trust (NLT) is a nonprofit that protects and stewards lands to permanently benefit the water, fish, wildlife, and people of the Nisqually River Watershed

We have over 6,000 acres of protected land, so the Site Steward Program increases our capacity to track changes and more effectively steward this land.

This Site Steward Workshop is an opportunity to learn about our Site Steward program and the work NLT is doing in the watershed. Current or returning site stewards are welcome to join us as well.

Please register through Eventbrite, so we have a headcount for the event. (Click on “Tickets” for the link.) You will also receive directions when you register.

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo @ Pantages Theater
Mar 9 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Celebrating its 40th Anniversary season, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo was founded in 1974 by a group of ballet enthusiasts who wanted to present a playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form and en travesty. Les Ballets Trockadero first performed in the late-late shows in Off-Off Broadway lofts.

The original concept of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo has not changed. It is a company of professional male dancers performing the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works in faithful renditions of the manners and conceits of those dance styles. The comedy is achieved by incorporating and exaggerating the foibles, accidents, and underlying incongruities of serious dance. The fact that men dance all the parts—heavy bodies delicately balancing on toes as swans, sylphs, water sprites, romantic princesses, angst-ridden Victorian ladies–enhances rather than mocks the spirit of dance as an art form, delighting and amusing the most knowledgeable, as well as novices, in the audiences.
