Step back in time to 1855 at Fort Nisqually Living History Museum’s 36th annual Brigade Encampment.

This event recreates the bustle and excitement of the historic visit of fur traders to the Fort in 1855. Guests will witness the arrival of the brigade (the convoy that delivered a year’s worth of furs) and spirited contests between trappers and traders – from obstacle course races to cooking contests. Young and old may participate in “Engagé for the Day,” visiting with living historians at their tents and receiving hands-on lessons on period skills such as fire starting and spinning wool.

Craftopia: Princess Dance Camp ages 3-5 @ Craftopia

Join us for an morning full of crafts, activities, dance, music and everything princess!  This parent-and-me style day will have you and your kiddo moving and creating in this three-hour dance and craft camp.  We’ll send your kiddo home happy and tired while creating memories the two of you will never forget.
Includes a variety of princess themed arts and crafts, dance and music activities with plenty of goodies to go home.  Snacks will be provided, so please let us know if your child has any allergies.

Activities geared towards kids ages 3-5. Parents are expected to remain but are not required to participate in all activities (though it is highly encouraged!)

Craftopia: Kids Acrylic Paint Class (4 weeks) @ Craftopia

Have a kiddo that is interested in learning to paint with acrylics? This class is great to get them started! Ms. Payette from Payette’s Fine Art is teaching a four-week course. It will include the basics on getting started with painting, techniques, and will focus on acrylic paint and some mixed media.

Recommended for ages 7-10 years old. Class runs four Tuesdays in September

Join us at Fort Nisqually Living History Museum to celebrate the sights, sounds, and smells of autumn at the Harvest Home festival. The day will include popular Victorian games, traditional music and dance performances.

Everyone is welcome to come down and press cider, make a corn dolly, and help us send off summer 19th century style.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eric G. Sandstrom, Post 969, is hosting a special day to focus on providing Veterans resources and education to promote Health, Housing, Benefits, Financial Literacy, and to help get Veterans active. This event will include a mobile dental van and a health screening unit to provide free screening for glaucoma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and sight and hearing loss. Come out and enjoy a day of camaraderie, meet new friends and take charge of your Veteran benefits.

Craftopia: Slime Time class @ Craftopia

Be a mad scientist in your very own slime lab! Create this wonderfully fun ooey gooey creation and add your own colors and decorations for something out-of-this-world! $5/participant. All ages and family friendly (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult). This class only takes about 45 minutes, so start times may be staggered depending on the number of participants to make sure we can provide a safe learning environment for all.
