Pierce County Habitat Stewards Training @ Zoom - Virtual event
Jun 1 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The National Wildlife Federation is offering a specialized, multi-week online training to teach you how to help others create and restore wildlife habitat in backyards, schoolyards, and other private and public areas. You get to meet and interact with local conservation professionals and other similarly interested folks while participating in this engaging, fun and highly informative online program!

Benefits include: a comprehensive, digital training manual with local resources; instruction from local professionals; and continued support from NWF staff.

Expert speakers will present on topics such as:

-Gardening for wildlife
-Improving soil quality
-Habitat restoration
-Mushrooms and fungi
-Bird friendly gardening
-And much more!

Classes will take place May 25th, 27th, June 1st, and 3rd from 6:00 – 7:00 pm via a free video conference platform.

A COVID-safe School Yard Habitat installation field trip will be held Saturday, May 29th and Sunday, May 30th. Participants are asked to attend one, but are welcomed to attend both events.

Summer Yoga at LeMay @ The Lawn at LeMay America's Car Museum

Self-care for Collective Care. Come together in community in the heart of our city for outdoor yoga. Yoga is an ancient holistic practice developed in S Asia but often seen as a luxury, with costs and accessibility only serving a select few. But when we practice yoga we have the opportunity to form deep and loving connections with other students, teachers and anyone else we meet on our journey — this practice can be a positive force in our personal lives. Now imagine the impact when we expand that force to our community.

Enjoy a mellow flow that combines purposeful movement and breath to cultivate mindfulness, a blend of beginner and intermediate asana (postures), and dynamic and static stretches to relieve tension in your body and mind so you feel good at the end of your day.

Summer Yoga classes are for all levels of experience. No yoga mat or yoga clothes required. Dress comfortably and bring a towel if you don’t have a yoga mat or don’t want to get yours dirty.

Sound Credit Union Shred Day @ Sound Credit Union - Pacific Avenue Branch

Keep your identity safe, err on the side of caution and shred those old tax returns, bank statements and paystubs at Sound’s free Shred Day event.

A mobile shredding truck along with Sound staff will be on-site at three branch locations from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., or until the truck is full. Limit three (3) boxes per person.

Help us in the Fight Against Hunger! In honor of National Hunger Awareness Day, please consider bringing a can of food with you to Shred Day to help a local food bank in need.
