John Pizzarelli Trio @ Rialto Theater
Mar 31 @ 7:30 pm

World-renowned guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli has been hailed by the The Toronto Star as “the genial genius of the guitar” and The Seattle Times saluted him as “a rare entertainer of the old school.” Established as one of the prime contemporary interpreters of the Great American Songbook, Pizzarelli has expanded that repertoire by including the music of Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Tom Waits, Antônio Carlos Jobim and The Beatles. His themed shows suggest there is no limit to Pizzarelli’s imagination or talent.

Laughing Mater April Comedy Showcase 2019 @ Alma Mater
Apr 5 @ 8:30 pm

Some say laughter is the best medicine and they’re not wrong. They’re not 100% right, but also not wrong.

Every first Friday you can come get the best and only medicine we are technically allowed to prescribe: laughter. Each month, we strive to bring you some of the funniest travelling and local comedians this world has to offer, all for the low price of $10.

Our glorious line-up for the month is:

Host:
Jill Silva
Jill has been called “a menace”, “loud” and “sometimes dry.” She’s featured in Baltimore’s XFest, Seattle’s Intersections Fest and recently competed in NYC’s Devil Cup. She co-produces two comedy gems in Tacoma: Bob’s Comedy Jive and Laughing Mater.

Featuring:
Khadija Hassan has produced several shows in Olympia including the very popular Roast Roulette. She’s opened for the likes of Kurt Braunohler and was the first comedian to be featured on Olympia Pop Rocks.

Chris Mejia seamlessly blends fun pop culture observations with takes on harder subjects like living with Lupus and being a POC. Chris has opened for national headliners such as Jak Knight and Kiry Shabazz and is a paid regular at the Comedy Underground and Laughs Comedy Club in Seattle.

Maddie Downes is a writer, comedian and actor. She has performed at the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, the SheDot Comedy Festival, and the Macefield Music Festival Comedy Stage. Her plays have featured in the Seattle Fringe Festival and Four Story House.

Headlining:
Shanna Christmas keeps audiences on edge due to her sweet and approachable looks, yet sharp, direct and salty humor. She’s adorable, but always bothered. She’s been seen at Laffs Café in Tucson, Stand Up Live in Phoenix, The Laugh Factory (Hollywood and Las Vegas), Improv (Hollywood, Tempe), and Comedy Works in Denver. She won The 2018 Devil’s Cup Comedy Competition (New York).
