It’s estimated that fewer than 15% of businesses make it to their 20th anniversary. Success in business comes from the ability to find your niche, develop strong partnerships and lasting friendships, keep ahead of industry changes and plan for a rainy day. Since 2004, President and CEO Dwayne Boggs of Boggs Inspection Services has become South Sound’s most trusted home inspector for those very reasons. He and his team celebrate transparency, integrity and going above and beyond. Join them in celebrating this amazing two-decade milestone.

Helping South Sound Families is Job #1 For Dwayne Boggs and Boggs Inspection Services

Like most of us, Dwayne worked in several different fields before settling down. After spending many years in the corporate sector, he realized it wasn’t his true calling. “I wanted to feel like I was making a difference in my professional career,” he recalls. “I read an article about home inspections, and this brought to light the importance of a home inspection in the real estate transaction. I immediately thought this is where I could put my skills and background to use.”

Since opening Boggs Inspection Services, he says that trends in home inspection have benefitted most from developing technologies. “The reporting software and tools used to enhance the inspection, such as infrared cameras that can detect signs of moisture and 360-degree cameras which allow the client to view the rooms in 3D, are amazing. In addition, environmental services can now be added to the inspection to allow for a one-stop shop.”

Beyond traditional inspection basics – walls, foundation, roof, and plumbing – Boggs can now perform home energy assessmentslead and asbestos testingmold and indoor air quality testing and services on manufactured homes, log homes and commercial buildings.

Boggs Believes in Growing Their Geographic Footprint, Work Family and Regional Partnerships

With these new technologies, over the last few years Boggs Inspection Services has been able to expand their geographic footprint into Pierce and Grays Harbor counties. Dwayne Boggs says this is due to two primary factors: added inspectors on their team and housing market shifts which allow people to work from home and thus live in more rural or affordable areas.

Boggs and his staff also work hard developing strong partnerships with local real estate offices and brokers as well as regional contractors and builders. When these businesses band together and build strong relationships, clients and local families can rest assured that their first, next or forever home is safe, secure and a sound investment.

The internal Boggs Inspection Services family is also tops on his celebratory thank-you list. Dwayne offers shout-outs to several key players. “Heather Derrick has been instrumental in designing our branding and keeping it consistent, keeping our social media content relevant and exciting with videos and attending live events. George Green, our inspector manager’s role in the company, drives excellence with our quality control and enhancing our training program. He also creates a feeling of camaraderie within the team.”

Out in the field, he thanks Jon Molby, a residential and commercial inspector. “Jon has brought a wealth of knowledge of home and building systems that he has gained over the years and freely shares with the team,” says Boggs, “This allows continual growth within the team.”

Looking Ahead to the Next 20 Years and Beyond

Dwayne Boggs hasn’t reined in his ambition when looking ahead. He’s excited about what’s to come and knows his staff can handle it. “First and foremost,” he says, “I want to continue to create opportunities for our team so they can achieve their dreams and goals.”

Looking externally, Boggs hopes to parlay his extensive experience and knowledge. “As president of the Northwest Home and Building Inspection Association, I want to continue raising the bar of excellence in the industry and provide mentorship to my fellow professionals. Then, to continue providing a unique and exceptional home-buying experience that is enjoyable, educational and comprehensive. Our aspiration from the beginning to now and into the future is to provide support to our clients for years after the inspection and a safe and sound home to live in.”
