Tacoma Beer Week, the annual celebration of South Sound breweries and venues, returns Friday, August 9 – Sunday, August 18, 2024.

Founded in 2014 (with a dark pandemic year in 2020), this year will see more than 30 events at venues throughout the region showcasing beer, cider, food, and community while celebrating the rich history of brewing within the area.

“Whether you are in the beer industry, an experienced connoisseur, or just starting out on your beer journey, Tacoma Beer Week is for you”, states founder and director Z Brackney.

“This is a great opportunity to try new flavors, connect with new friends, explore new-to-you neighborhoods and venues, and support our local industry.”

This year’s official Tacoma Beer Week Beer is a special collaboration utilizing Almond Roca in conjunction with Brown & Haley and SiG Brewing Co. Deal with Destiny, a cream ale, will launch at Sig Brewing (2534 Tacoma Avenue) on Friday, August 9.

“Each year, we collaborate closely with the community to create and promote events that cater to a wide range of people. This year, we’re excited to have paired a Tacoma business who has been making a well-loved product for more than 100 years with an independent brewery known for their innovation – and the result is a delicious brew we can’t wait to introduce!” says Brackney. “And yes, it will be canned!”

Other highlights of the week include:

·       Beer community gives back – the second annual litter crawl, this year focused on 6th Avenue, in partnership with Tacoma Trash Pandas and Oscar’s Enemies, on Sunday, August 11.

·       Heidelberg Derby, a family-friendly pinewood derby-style event using beer cans at 7 Seas Brewing, Monday, August 12.

·       Spoken word night hosted by Creative Colloquy at Peaks & Pints featuring cocktail-themed beers and ciders, Monday, August 12.

·       “Um…Actually”, A Game Show at Blue Mouse Theater with Sierra Nevada Brewery, putting your trivia knowledge to the test while raising funds for a local charity, Thursday, August 15.

·       Beer dinner pairing at Delightful Neighborhood Market with Jan Parker Cookery, including the release of a special international collaboration beer brewed with venue owner Jeana Skiles, Friday, August 16.

Other events include a walking tour of Proctor District, live podcast taping with Grit & Grain, Hop Roast Coffee Beer Fest featuring a range of coffee beers, and an industry party hosted by Underberg.

“Enjoy beverages, support local businesses, be kind, and love Tacoma”, says Brackney. “We’ll see you out there!”
