Gov. Inslee ordered the closure of all schools in Washington including Pierce County. This is to allow for social distancing to reduce the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community and state.
Since information is changing quickly, be sure to check with your local school for the most up-to-date news regarding meals. This list will be updated as local schools make plans and change meal distribution to meet the community’s needs.
Tacoma Public Schools
Tacoma Public Schools Nutrition Services Department will provide meals to all students affected by emergency school closures beginning Monday, March 16 at our middle school buildings. Meals will be served between 10 a.m. and noon.
Each student will receive two meals: lunch for the day and breakfast for the following morning. Please enter through the school’s bus loading zone. Our Nutrition Services staff will serve drive-thru style. Walk-ups are also welcome. Please look for our onsite sandwich boards for additional directions.

Puyallup School District
Puyallup School District will serve free meals for all children impacted by school closures from March 16 through April 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 am at Firgrove, Stewart, Wildwood, and Waller Road Elementary Schools.

University Place School District
The UP School District will begin offering food service for all school age children who need it on Monday, March 16 at Evergreen Primary, Narrows View Intermediate, Chambers Primary and University Place Primary schools.
School cafeterias at these schools will be open Monday – Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to provide lunch and the next day’s breakfast (in a bag) for students. If you can’t get your student to these schools – at these times – please contact your school. We will expand services if needed.

Steilacoom Historical School District
Steilacoom Historical School District is offering free breakfast and lunch grab-and-go meals at all SHSD schools from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily during closure to any child age 0-18. Each child does need to be present to pick up a meal, but children can pick up their meals at any school site. If transportation to a school site is an issue, you can email info@steilacoom.k12.wa.us.

Sumner-Bonney Lake School District
Grab-and-go meals will be available to all students under the age of 18 starting Monday, March 16. No forms or registration are required. Students can drop by to pick up breakfast and lunch. A student does not need to attend school at the distribution location to get meals. Students must be present to receive a meal.

Peninsula School District
Peninsula School District will be offering free meals to all students 18 and under beginning Tuesday, March 17.
Lunches will be grab-and-go sack lunch style, with either a sandwich or wrap with fruit, vegetables and milk. Lunches will be provided at the following sites for pickup Monday-Friday between 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.:
- Artondale Elementary
- Evergreen Elementary
- Purdy Elementary
- Key Peninsula Middle School
- Gig Harbor High School
Meal stations will be located near the front of each school to encourage social distancing. Students must be present to receive a lunch. Students do not need to qualify for free or reduced meals to receive a lunch, and no forms or registration are required.
Pre-ordering is not necessary, but meal orders can be submitted online by clicking HERE.

Fife Public Schools
Free meals will be delivered via school bus for all Fife Public Schools children impacted by the emergency school closure starting Monday, March 16. Buses will be at bus stop two hours later than normal pick up. If you miss the bus stop drop off, you can pick up your meals at the locations below:
- CJH/FHS: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
- SLMS: 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
- Hedden: 10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
- Endeavor: 10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
- Discovery: 10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
