Steilacoom is a small town filled with small-town charm and cozy neighborhood streets, and this quaint town knows how to do July 4th and fireworks right.
Steilacoom’s 4th of July Parade and Celebration
Steilacoom’s Grand Old 4th of July Celebration is filled with family fun all day long, from 9:00 a.m. until fireworks at dark.
Starting at right when the event opens in the morning, there’s a fun run starting at town hall and the street fair opens to all.
At 10:00 a.m., the beer garden opens for business at the tennis courts, and the live entertainment kicks off at the post office.
An ice cream social takes place from noon to 4:00 p.m. on the museum patio.
The parade – one of the highlights of the day – starts at 1:00 p.m. at Rainier and Lafayette Street, and a half hour before that, kids can join in the bike parade at Perkins Park (strollers, tricycles and other small wheeled craft can join in too)!
At 3:00 p.m., you can either join in the Tribal Museum Tour ($5 per person and space is limited) or try your hand at the hot dog and pie eating contests at the post office.
From 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., burn off all those hot dogs and pies at the family street dance on Lafayette Street.
And at 10:00 p.m., be prepared to be dazzled as fireworks take to the sky. They’re launched from a barge offshore so anywhere along the Steilacoom shoreline is great for viewing.
