With a single retail location on South Steele St. in Tacoma, Courtesy Auto Service & Tire is owned by local residents Scott and Susan Welsh.
The Tire Review Top Shop Award, presented by Ammco/Coats, seeks to honor the “best of the best” independent tire dealers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. This year, more than 100 independent tire dealerships entered, and judges selected one Winner and three Finalists (runners-up) in a multi-stage judging system.
Courtesy Auto Service & Tire, founded in 2003, has eight full-time employees, derives 90% of its revenue from retail sales, and generates 70% of those sales from performing vehicle services.
Scott and Susan Welsh commented, “The entire staff at Courtesy Auto and Tire is excited and honored to receive this award. We are proud of the business we have built and are committed to offering consistent and valuable problem solving techniques our tire and automotive service customers have come to expect. Tacoma is a great city and Courtesy Auto Service and Tire of Tacoma is proud to be part of this community and have the opportunity to serve the automotive needs throughout the greater Tacoma area.”
“The Top Shop Award program is truly an amazing experience for these entrepreneurs, and every year tire dealers across this continent reaffirm that this is the most prestigious honor any independent tire dealership can earn,” said Tire Review editor Jim Smith. “Congratulations to Courtesy Auto Service & Tire of Tacoma. It has clearly demonstrated that by focusing on world-class customer service, top-flight employees, a deep devotion to the community, and being up to the challenges of entrepreneurship, the one-store tire dealer can be more than competitive in a tough market. The entire industry should take heart in knowing that the level of professionalism, dedication and innovation continues to rise among North American tire dealers.”
As a Top Shop Finalist, Courtesy Auto Service & Tire of Tacoma receives a Coats 1250-3DV tire/wheel balancer, a $500 cash prize, a feature story on the dealership in the October 2015 issue of Tire Review, and a specially designed finalist trophy.
